1. General Information about YAU 
Yunnan Agricultural University, located in the spring city—Kunming, is one of the key universities of Yunnan province, which is adjacent to Longquan Mountain on the north, Panlong River on its east, and neighbors on the famous scenic spot—the Black Dragon Pool Garden in Kunming. The current school party secretary is Zhang Haixiang, and the president Zhu Youyong. 
Founded in 1938, Yunnan Agricultural University was originally known as the agricultural college of the State-run Yunnan University. In 1980, it was moved to and located in the northern suburbs of Kunming—the black dragon pool, and become an authorized unit to grant the MA degree in 1983. It was put in the list of yunnan provincial key universities in 1993, and authorized to grant the PHD degree in 2003. And its post-doctoral station was founded in 2007. 
70 years since its establishment, the infrastructure construction of Yunnan Agricultural University has advanced by leaps and bounds. The campus covers a total area of 2156 mu, with school construction area 454 thousand squire meters and stuff residential area 227 thousand squire meters; existing teaching and research equipment gross 110 million yuan; total amount of library literature paper 1193 thousand volumes, electronic documents 853 thousand volumes, and gigabit campus network with full functions; and the gross value of the fixed assets over 520 million yuan. Currently, the university covers 17 colleges, covering crop and plant cultivation, livestock and poultry raising, water conservancy and hydroelectric power, agricultural engineering, Agricultural Economy Management and other agricultural related subjects, and some subjects of humanities and social sciences, among which the tobacco college and pu-erh tea academy are the unique teaching unites established to service for the industries with local advantages. At present, the school has regular college students in full time programs 12041, graduate student for Master’s degree 1371, doctoral candidates 93, overseas students 112, and adult-education students 7931.

3. Expense Standard for Oversea Students 
Tuition fee 
Bachelor’s Degree Program: 14000.00 yuan/year 
Master’s Degree Program: 18000.00 yuan/year 
PhD Degree Program: 22000.00 yuan/year 
The charge can be appropriately discounted within 10%--30% according to the specific conditions of the applicants; as to the students from our cooperative college, the tuition fee is charged according to the inter-school cooperation agreement. 
4. Application Conditions and Methods 
1. General Conditions 
All international students who want to study in our university with relevant conditions, good health and no criminal record, and are willing to abide by the laws, and regulations of China and rules and regulations of our university 
2. Requirement of Proficiency in Chinese Language 
The students who want to proceed to degrees and accept curricula educations are required to take the Chinese language proficiency exam. The Chinese proficiency is subject to HSK results. Only those students whose results reached HSK 3 or above can apply for Bachelor or Master degree of science and engineering; HSK 4 or above can apply for Bachelor or Master degree of arts except Chinese language, and PhD degree of science and engineering; HSK 6 or above can apply for the Master degree of Chinese language, and PhD degree of arts; for the students whose Chinese proficiency can not reach the requirements, they should learn Chinese language first and take the Chinese language proficiency exam after registration, then allowed to take specialty courses when they meet the standard. 
3. Programs and Conditions 
Visiting Students Program: candidates must have the relevant professional knowledge, and be willing to engage in advanced studies in their original or related professionals. 
Undergraduate Program: candidates must have the education background equals to high school degree of China. After the selecting procedure and entrance examination, they could enter our university to study the undergraduate majors. 
Master’s Program: candidates are required to have the education background equals to the bachelor’s degree of China, be recommended by more than 2 associate professors, and pass the qualification and entrance examination, or get the bachelor’s degree from Chinese colleges or universities, and pass the graduate record examination or get good results from their undergraduate studies and be recommended by their original colleges or universities excused from the examination, could study in the majors for master’s degree. 
Doctorate Program: candidates are required to have the education background equals to the master’s degree of China, be recommended by over 2 professors and pass the qualification and entrance examination, and then they could enter our university to study the majors for PhD degree. 
5. Application Procedures 
(1) For the students who want to apply for Yunnan provincial scholarship, they should apply to our university according to the relevant provisions of Management Measures of Yunnan Provincial Scholarship for Enrolling Students from Neighboring Countries, and offer the relevant application materials, and then we will submit to Yunnan provincial education department for approval. 
(2) Materials required to the International Cooperation and Exchange Department for the candidates who want to study in our university at their own expenses
